Friday, 29 November at 10:00 a.m.
lecture
Kino Šiška, Komuna

The history of pioneering experimental practices featuring interesting relations between technology and contemporary dance, by its origins a product of technological changes during the industrial revolution, condensed in a series of examples mostly during the historical avant-garde movements in the first decades of the past century and the neo-avant-gardes in the 1960s. In this lecture we will highlight certain formative contacts between choreographers and the laboratories of telecommunication companies (The Bell Telephone Company) in the USA in the 1960s under the collective name Experiments in Arts and Technology, taking a look at some of the archive footage. In the second part, we will overview selected examples from the depots of the Kapelica Gallery in Ljubljana from the 1990s, which will be discussed by the gallery’s artistic director, Jurij Krpan.
