Austrian creators Doris Uhlich and Michael Turinsky are well known among Ljubljana audiences. Internationally renowned choreographer Doris Uhlich showed two previous performances in Ljubljana already: mass performance More than Naked (2013) was here in 2015 and two years later she brought here the pulsating bodies in Boom Bodies (2016). The interest in unconventional bodies that she further extends and deepens with every new choreography is by no doubt the reason why she started collaborating with a choreographer, dancer and philosopher in a wheelchair Michael Turinsky. He already thrilled Ljubljana audiences in 2016 with his solo performance Second Skin– Turn the Beat Around (2016). As Doris Uhlich explains, the idea for the show was born on the basis of admiring comments on the use of “machine”in her solo performance Universal Dancer (2015) in which she “rides a machine – table, with a washing machine motor attached bellow”. When they asked her if she ever thought about leading a training for people on a wheelchair she became conscious of the associative relation between their machines and the production of techno music. This brought about the idea of a research of energetic, pulsating states of bodies with a handicap. Together with Michael Turinsky they researched the influence and power of machine-generated techno music on their bodies, the conditions for the enabling of bodily extatical states and relations of two different bodies with a machine (a wheelchair as the machine extension of the body and computer and mixing desk as the machine for the production of synthetic music). They were interested in the point of touch of the affected body, moves and movement of the electrified body. A choreography with electricity that will zap the audience. Creators received Nestroy 2017 Award for the inclusion of social minorities into life for the work Ravemachine.
