The way trauma shapes sexual desires and fantasies is an important question for modern psychoanalysis. Contemporary culture has turned sexual desire into a Hollywood of its own kind. This is one of the central artistic preoccupations of Marko Milić, who approaches it in his work without the slightest inhibition.
Performances by dancer, choreographer and performer Marko Milić have been previously hosted in the CoFestival programme on several occasions. In 2025, he collaborated with computer engineer and artist Uroš Krčadinac on the project Gaitless (2025); in 2022, he exhibited his archive of erotic photographs Life is Like Love, Only Longer; he first appeared at CoFestival in 2018 with his solo Lumi (2016) and the project Koreoerotikon (2016), created together with Ana Dubljević and Darja Janošević. Across a number of his works, Marko Milić engages with eroticism and sexuality.
Marko Milić is interested in the transactional forms of negotiated sexuality found on various online platforms, in its (sub)culture, in the forms of commodified human relationships, and in both the reasons behind and the symptoms generated by such relationships. DILF, which in Grindr slang stands for “Dad I’d Like to F…” is one of a number of linguistic codes Milić uses in his performances. The poetic directness and tenderness with which Milić approaches the negotiated economy of sexual desire is something unexpected and special. DILF continues Milić’s exploration of “traumatic experiences and their impact on the perception of the world around us and on relationships with others. The performance traces the ways trauma shapes sexual fantasies, as well as the mechanisms through which desire, pleasure, and pain remain intertwined. DILF raises the question of the authenticity of the sexual desires we carry − are they truly ours, or are they products of formative experiences, behavioural patterns, and overwhelming emotional events? At the same time, the work reflects on pleasure as a space for the reconfiguration of vulnerability.” In its own particular way, Milić’s work inscribes itself into the artistic landscape and the specific existential experience that the late French playwright once named “the solitude of the cotton fields.”
