The choreographic potency of Jefta van Dinther’s works resides in the sensuous means and concepts through which our bodies are given passes to spaces in which we can commune with our diverse but collective spirits. His works produce the sort of dance or theatrical magic that we are longing for, transforming an ordinary performance into an unforgettable theatrical experience. A contemporary choreo-vocalist \u00bbmissa solemnis\u00ab creates a touch of humanity and mutual attunement in the midst of a world gone mad.<\/p>\n

His first CoFestival performance took place in 2017 with the solo Grind (2011), and in 2019, he was once again our guest with the work Dark Field Analysis (2017). The title Unearth, which is the imperative or infinitive form of the verb \u00bbto dig up, exhume or find, discover,\u00ab hides an unusual recommendation, for which it is hard to say whether it is addressing the performers, viewers or perhaps even their inter-relation. This time, the choreo-vocal work by Jefta van Dinther renounces almost all stage effects beyond the ten present human bodies, their voices and movements, in order for this stripped-down renunciation to create a fundamental vibration as the condition for the commons. \u00bbIn this durational work, the audience is summoned into the intensity of repetition and to linger in the sweetness of introspection. Unearth digs into the body as material, whilst exposing both social and spiritual constructs of kinship, purpose and mortality,\u00ab reads the accompanying text.<\/p>\n
